Got 24 hours to spare? Let’s see what can be done in 24 hours at The Pearl-Qatar

Qatar’s award winning Hamad International Airport (HIA) has no fewer than 30 million passengers a year walking its glittering travelators, and this number is estimated to soar to 50 million once phase two of the airport’s expansion has been completed. With all these passengers either arriving or most notably passing through as transit, if there is a 24-hour stopover then head over to The Pearl–Qatar for a few ‘must-do’s’ whilst visiting the island.

When you imagine the Middle East’s most glamorous address, you imagine The Pearl-Qatar. A world destination for tourism, shopping and a comfortable living, The Pearl-Qatar is the most unique and innovative urban development in Qatar’s young history. With Mediterranean-style yacht-lined marinas, state-of-the-art residential towers, luxury villas, a 5-star hotel, chic shopping at top brand name boutiques, a host of world renowned restaurants, and leisure and entertainment facilities, The Pearl-Qatar is the perfect destination for tourists and residents alike.

Here are suggestions for how you can create an unforgettable experience…….

Breakfast like a King with the lavish breakfast selection offered at Mado Turkey in Porto Arabia, 20 La Croisette. Choose from a wide range of fresh Turkish dishes such as cheeses, olives, salads, home-made jams, and various options of omelets.

Maybe still suffering from jet lag? Treat yourself to a relaxing mid-morning beach time and head over to the Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel. You can bask under the Arabian sun at the exquisite 5-star Marsa Malaz coastline; the perfect backdrop to a beautiful day. Enjoy a full day’s pass for QR375pp.

Once rejuvenated, an afternoon of shopping is a must for every visitor! On the retail front, the precinct of Porto Arabia has approximately 80,000 square meters of space, bustling with globally recognized upscale retail stores such as Emporio Armani, Philipp Plein, Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Agent Provocateur to name a few. Medina Centrale – known as the Town Center of the Island - adds a further 60,000 square meters of retail, and Qanat Quartier approximately 30,000 square meters with up and coming outlets. So get your comfortable shoes on and get shopping!

With all that shopping on offer, stop to refuel with a late lunch or an early dinner at one of the many dining outlets in Porto Arabia. Choose from a host of international cuisines such as:

Japanese: Junko - 14 La Croisette
Lebanese: Burj Al Hamam - 01 La Croisette
French: Le Relais de l'Entrecote - 01 La Croisette
Italian: Carluccio’s - 18 La Croisette
Egyptian: Si El Sayed - 12 La Croisette

As the sun goes down, take in the sights of the Island and its surroundings onboard a traditional dhow (boat). Setting sail from Porto Arabia’s marina, Ronautica Middle East offers a leisurely cruise on a classic and beautiful dhow, with views of West Bay, the Corniche and the Museum of Islamic Art. Tour tickets are QR60per person (children under 15 QR40 and under 3 years go free!)

On arrival back to the Island, take a leisurely evening stroll from Porto Arabia to Medina Centrale, where you have the option of numerous dessert cafes such as:
• Fruitella
• Dip N Dip
• Forty Fruity
• Camille's Ice Cream
• Mokarabia
And to wash it all down with, drinking a cup of Karak is a must! Known as the traditional hot beverage of the Middle East, sample the delights of this drink from Karaki in Medina Centrale.

As the night draws in, you can start to unwind for the rest of the evening with a trip to the movies. Located in Medina Centrale, Novo Cinemas - the Middle East’s largest chain of cinemas – provides a complete entertainment experience with cutting-edge cinema technology and luxury premium facilities. The flagship facility at The Pearl-Qatar boasts standout features that include 1,456 seats over 10 state-of-the-art screens and a specialized 7-star screen with all the trimmings.

Still going strong?
For the revelers who can carry on, good news is that you still don’t have to leave The Pearl in order to continue throughout the night. If you head back to Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel, there are various nightspots that cater for different musical tastes. Within the hotel, is Illusions; a place which promises a night of mystery, intrigue and cabaret style entertainment, and just slightly separated from the main hotel are three fine dining restaurants each housing their very own night time offerings: • Toro Toro • Antica Pesa • Nozomi

With all this entertainment and host of activities available at The Pearl-Qatar, it just leaves one cautious thing to mention: Just don't miss the plane.
